Country Samurai offers
only 100% Kona coffee of exceptional, old-fashioned quality. Country
Samurai does not blend, decaf or flavor its coffee.
The
pride of Samurai quality comes from three generations of Kona coffee
experience. The first generation started in 1910 with meager resources.
They literally lived through the donkey days of transportation.
The donkey could carry
only so much of the load, so family members themselves carried the
coffee cherries, fertilizers and other materials on their own backs
up and down the hilly fields. Yet these pioneers prevailed in producing
the best quality Kona coffee in the harshest environment. Some of
the 1910 trees still produce for Country Samurai today.
In the 1950's and '60's,
Kona's total coffee production was at its highest with 22 million
pounds of "green" beans. This level of Kona's production
was achieved during the second generation of Country Samurai with
new technologies, big mature trees and know-how to further develop
the quality and production of coffee.
ABOUT
US
Country Samurai coffee
currently comes from a third generation member of the family with
an old-fashioned philosophy of quality control in growing, processing,
and roasting of Kona coffee. There is an up and coming fourth generation
in training.
Born in 1910, a second
generation member continues to instill the old-fashioned values of
honesty, hard work, and meticulous care in the coffee. The third generation
member grew up with Kona coffee. He received his PhD in accounting
and also has his MBA and CPA. He has taught at the University of Hawaii,
University of Arkansas and The Pennsylvania State University. His
better half applies her MBA and BBA to service Country Samurai's award-winning
coffee.
The three fourth-generation
team members participate in all phases of Country Samurai's activities.
The beauty of all this is that practice and theory in quality coffee
are harmoniously applied.
"You have the best coffee.
Everyone has asked for it for Christmas."
